Why was my Net+ Prepaid Mastercard® contactless payment declined?

This article specifically applies for the Net+ Prepaid Mastercard® offered in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK. For inquiries regarding the Net+ Virtual Mastercard® offered in Brazil, please refer to the appropriate section.

Possible reasons for a failed contactless transaction with the Net+ Card are:

  • A technical or connectivity issue with the merchant POS terminal. Retry the payment on a different POS device if available.
  • The transaction amount exceeds the limits set for that country by Mastercard®. Try making a payment for a smaller amount.
  • You have reached contactless velocity limits for the country of transaction. Try inserting your card in the physical POS terminal to complete the payment via chip and PIN.
  • The contactless chip might be damaged. Make several attempts at different POS terminals and if none of them works you can order a replacement card.
  • You have reached the consecutive contactless transaction counter limits. Try completing the payment via chip and PIN.

If your contactless transaction attempts continue to fail, allow some time to pass before trying again or pay using your card’s chip and PIN code.
