What is Secure ID and how to reset it?

Secure ID Authentication is an additional security feature that helps you increase the security level of your Neteller account. The Secure ID is sometimes used for additional authentication when you log in or complete a transaction.

If you enter a wrong Secure ID too many times:

  • upon login, you’ll be asked to reset it to continue using Neteller
  • upon a transaction, you’ll be locked out of your account for a certain period; allow for some time to pass and try again or contact us to assist you further.

How do I set up my Secure ID Authentication?

Setting up a 6-digit Secure ID is the final step of your account creation. You won’t be able to make any transactions before completing this step. If you log out of your account, you’ll be asked to set up your Secure ID upon your next login.

Important requirements for the Secure ID:

  • Secure ID must be 6 digits
  • Secure ID must not contain 6 repeating digits (e.g. 111111)
  • Secure ID must not contain 6 consecutive ascending or descending digits (e.g. 123456 or 654321)

You’ll see a message if you enter a weak Secure ID and will be asked to create a new one.

When you use a new device to log in or send money to a new recipient, you'll be asked to confirm your Secure ID code. If you trust the device or the recipient, you can mark them as 'trusted', and you won't be asked to confirm your Secure ID next time.

How do I reset my Secure ID?

We recommend changing your Secure ID regularly to maintain the security of your Neteller account.

Via a web browser

  1. Log into your Neteller account
  2. Go to Settings > Security > Reset Secure ID
  3. Click Reset. You’ll receive an email to your primary email address with a verification link to confirm the change.
  4. Click the link and set up your new Secure ID

You can also reset your Secure ID if you’re asked to confirm it upon a transaction, such as bank withdrawal or Neteller Money Transfer. Simply click ‘Reset Secure ID’ from the pop-up window and follow the instructions.

Via the Neteller mobile app

  1. At the login screen, click Forgot Secure ID
  2. Confirm your password
  3. You’ll receive an email to your primary email address with a verification link to confirm the change
  4. Click the link and set up your new Secure ID

I didn’t receive the Secure ID reset email. What should I do?

The reset link is sent via an automated email, which may often end up in your Spam, Junk, or Deleted folder. To ensure you receive such emails:

•    Check all your inbox folders
•    Add <Neteller@notifications.Neteller.com> to your address list
•    Check with your provider if there are any restrictions on incoming emails, and ask them for assistance

Less known domains may have issues with receiving emails from Neteller. If you're using a provider other than Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, Protonmail and iCloud and you don't receive Neteller auto emails, update your email address.
