Why do I have a pending payment with my Net+ Virtual Mastercard®? (Brazil)

This article specifically applies for the Net+ Virtual Mastercard® offered in Brazil. For inquiries regarding the Net+ Prepaid Mastercard® offered in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, please refer to the appropriate section.

Upon completing a card payment, NETELLER deducts the money from your available balance and blocks it, creating a "pending" transaction. A transaction may remain pending until the merchant either collects the funds or in some cases, sends a request to cancel the particular transaction.

How long does it take to complete a pending Net+ Virtual Mastercard® payment?

  • For general purchases such as e-commerce shopping: up to 14 calendar days.
  • For car rentals, and travel and entertainment purchases such as hotel payments, airlines, travel agencies/tour operators: up to 30 calendar days.

The amount of any purchase you make with your Net+ Virtual Mastercard® will be blocked from the available balance in your NETELLER account (meaning that you will not be able to withdraw it, spend it, or transfer it) for a 5-day period. During that period, your card payment will be displayed as pending in your transaction history.

After the 5-day period has expired, your transaction will either change from pending to processed and the blocked amount will be deducted from your balance, or it will remain pending for up to 9 or 25 more days (depending on the purchase type as listed above) until we receive a settlement from the merchant.

If the merchant does not collect the money within the above timeframes, we will automatically release the funds back to your available balance. In case you receive the purchased goods or services, but the blocked amount has already been released back to you after the standard pending period, the merchant may still request to collect the funds at a later stage.

Duplicate transactions

Occasionally, you may see a new pending transaction for a payment that was completed, and the amount for the purchase already collected from your NETELLER account. This happens if merchants do not send sufficient information with their financial settlement, and our system fails to match your original transaction with the transaction settlement sent by the merchant. Duplicate transactions get cleared automatically within several days.
